Welcome! - Introductions
almost 5 years ago51 ResponsesHi all, let us know who you are! Post a short intro about yourself:
Where do you work? What department are you in?
What are you interested in learning from this cohort?
What's something cool about you, that we'd probably never guess?
You can optionally participate in the "Tour your town" introduction, by recording a 30-second video of yourself showing off something you love about where you live, and uploading the link in your comment.
Comment on at least three of your peers' posts as well so you can begin getting to know the group!

Month 1 Discussion: Wicked Problems
almost 5 years agoWhat are some of the more difficult "wicked problems" that you confront in your work? How could you imagine an arts-based approach helping out?
-
Month 2 Discussion: Return on Investment
almost 5 years agoWhen you talk about "return on investment" in your work, how do you usually frame things? What do you think are some ways to talk how arts can contribute to local government challenges? Is there any bridging language between the two?
-
Month 3: Equity Challenges
almost 5 years agoWhat are some of the greatest equity challenges you face in your department? How could arts-based strategies help to address those key areas of challenge?
-
Month 4: Tools in the Toolkit
over 4 years agoThinking about your capstone project, what are the greatest logistic hurdles you think you'll face? Can or do any of those items hit on equity issues (such as contracting with artists sometimes does)?
Write what comes to top of mind and we'll gather everyone's responses and talk together about the challenges and how to meet them when we meet in our online discussion together.

Month 5: Communicating in & Evaluating Creative Placemaking Projects
over 4 years agoOne of the trickiest parts of starting to use arts-based strategies in the work you do is convincing others that it's worth a risk. In just one or two sentences - how would you articulate the fundamental benefit that your Capstone project will bring about?
-
Month 6: Creative Placemaking and Organizational Development
over 4 years agoOver the last few years, organizations who have adopted creative placemaking practices have started to notice changes happening from the inside-out. Changes in the ways people think about the community and community engagement, changes in the ways people approach problem solving, changes in the ways people address traumatic circumstances both during and after. What kind of organizational level changes can you picture happening within your own organization?

Virtual Break Room
almost 5 years agoThis is for funny cat videos...serious questions that don't fit anywhere else...recipes...jokes...and anything else you'd normally talk about together with your colleagues in the hall or the office!
